Chapter One notes.

It's official, the first chapter is ready to go. I've made a few changes from the sample I posted last week, though the experience is, overall, the same. Enjoy. (And, yes, I'll probably provide notes between chapters like this for each subsequent chapter. Makes it easier for people to skip the stuff they don't wanna read.)
